INLD, AAP TO CONTEST ON PARTY SYMBOLS; CONG, JJP YET TO DECIDE

After Haryana State Election Commission declared the schedule for elections to municipal bodies, all political parties are mulling over winning strategy.

Elections in municipalities (Municipal Committees and Municipal Councils) will be held for 37 posts of president and in Haryana and among these, 12 are earmarked for women while remaining of 25 are unreserved.

The BJP has decided to fight the elections on the party symbol only on aforesaid seats of president. BJP state president OP Dhankhar said that the party has made all preparations.

The Congress has called on a meeting of party leaders to decide the same. Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the party is united and has come up with required preparations.

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has also decided to contest the elections in a bid to gain its lost political ground. The party leadership will fight the battle on the party symbol.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also decided to contest the elections on party symbol. The party will hold a rally in Kurukshetra which is being considered a step to woo the voters. AAP leader Sushil Gupta said that AAP will fight the poll under its own symbol.

Jannayak Janata party, an alliance partner of ruling BJP, has also remained undecided over the issue. The party leadership will discuss the issue in a meeting on May 25 in Panchkula. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala had announced to contest the elections in collaboration with BJP.
