SRINAGAR: Sharply criticising police and administration in Kashmir, PDF chief Mehbooba Mufti said that the father of a young boy, who was recently killed in an alleged fake encounter, has been slapped with an FIR for the “crime” of demanding the body of his son.
In a tweet, Mehbooba Mufti said, “After losing his son in an alleged fake encounter, Athar Mushtaq’s father has been slapped with an FIR for demanding his dead body. His crime was to stage a peaceful protest. The inhabitants of Naya Kashmir can’t even question a callous admin and have been reduced to living corpses.”
It is in place to mention that Athar Mushtaq, along with his two friends, was killed in an alleged fake encounter at Hokersar on the outskirts of Srinagar city, triggering protests by their parents and relatives who are demanding the bodies back as they have been buried by police at Sonamarg. The police are saying that due to pandemic they are not giving bodies back to militant families. Athar Mushtaq’s father has even dug a grave asking for his son’s body. Now that he was going to protest in his village, the police have responded by filing an FIR against him.
While LG Manoj Sinha told the media that he will disclose the facts about this controversial encounter at the appropriate time. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, in a recent press conference, has said that police has solved 70% case and has established that all three killed in this encounter were involved in militancy. Responding to the press conference, the parents have said that when the government will come out with the fact of this case they will accept it. However, the police have not yet come out with the final details to prove that it was not a fake encounter.
