A 26-year-old content creator from England tragically lost his life while attempting a daring climb on one of Spain’s most iconic and tallest landmarks. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 13th, when he fell while trying to scale the 630-foot-high bridge in Talavera de la Reina. The influencer was with a 24-year-old friend, and the two were reportedly filming for a social media post at the time.
On October 13, a young British social media influencer, along with another individual from the same area, attempted to climb the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge despite multiple warnings about its dangers. Tragically, he fell to his death from the 630-foot cable-stayed structure on Sunday morning.
Local city councilor Macarena Muñoz confirmed the incident, emphasizing that climbing the bridge is “totally prohibited.” “According to what we have been able to find out, they had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social media, which has resulted in this unfortunate and sad outcome,” Muñoz said, as reported by the POST. Spanish media noted that it was raining heavily earlier, which may have made the bridge slippery.
“He was about 40 to 50 meters up, around a quarter of the total height of the bridge, when he fell,” a police authority detailed the accident, according to Metro. “The reason he fell is not clear and will be investigated by a local court,” they added. It was also reported that the man was not wearing any harnesses or protective gear for stability while attempting to climb the bridge.
