Indore Police’s head constable Jawahar Singh Yadav, known as ‘Yamraj,’ has died from an electric shock while tending to his cow, which also lost its life in the incident.
Yadav gained recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for donning the guise of Yamraj, the Hindu god of death, to raise awareness and encourage people to stay home and get vaccinated.
He also donned the Yamraj costume during campaigns to remind two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, becoming a well-known figure as his photos and videos went viral on social media platforms.

At the time of his death, Yadav was assigned to the Crime Branch. He kept a cow in a small enclosure near his home, where the incident occurred on Friday morning while he was bathing the animal, according to India TV.
A passerby spotted him unconscious and alerted the police. He was rushed to Choithram Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the Juni Indore Police are conducting an investigation.
In a separate incident, four people were killed and three others injured in a collision between an SUV and an oil tanker in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district on Friday, according to police. The victims were returning to Indore from a pilgrimage in Ajmer, Rajasthan, when the accident occurred, as reported by Khachrod police station officer Dhansingh Nalvaya.
The crash happened near Bedavanya village on the Jaora-Nagda road, approximately 50 km from the district headquarters. The injured individuals were transported to Indore for advanced treatment, Nalvaya stated.
Police have filed a case against the tanker driver, who fled the scene following the accident.
