A man in Indore strangled a transgender woman to death after finding out her identity. Reports suggest that the man contacted her on social media for sexual favours and assumed she was a woman.
The body parts discovered on Tuesday helped Indore Police identify the murderer and crack the case. The victim is identified as Mohsin alias Zoya Kinnar, and the accused is identified as Noor Mohammad.
The accused has been detained by the police. The body parts of the deceased were discovered at the killer’s residence.
Indore Zone 2 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sampat Upadhyay “The body was identified as Mohsin alias Zoya Kinnar, who had been missing since August 28.”
The accused was questioned by the police as they looked over the CCTV tape.
The accused disclosed that his wife had visited her mother’s house, and since then he communicated with transgender Zoya online. The defendant then asked Zoya to a meeting at his home.
DCP Upadhyay said, “When Noor Mohammad learned that Zoya was transgender, there was an argument between the two, and as a result, Mohammad strangled Zoya to death.”
“He cut Zoya’s body into two pieces, stuffed one piece into a sack and threw it into the bushes close to the bypass. The other part, which he was unable to throw away, he hid in a box in his house,” he added further.
