As India stands poised to unveil a national policy geared towards fostering research, development, and innovation in the pharma-medical devices sectors, its commitment to global healthcare leadership strengthens. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s proclamation on Sunday is emblematic of India’s persistent drive to champion quality, accessibility, and affordability in healthcare – a promise which remained steadfast during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing an august gathering, which included pharma industry leaders and G20 ministers, Mandaviya reflected upon India’s evolving vision for healthcare. The shift from volume-driven strategies to a value-centric leadership model epitomises this progression.
However, what truly amplifies India’s healthcare ambitions is its assertive role on the global stage. Recognized as a nexus for pharmaceutical excellence, India’s contribution to the global health milieu, especially during the pandemic, has been significant. The commendations by health ministers from Indonesia and the Netherlands underlined India’s pivotal role, expressing eagerness for bolstered collaborations.
The Jan Aushadhi Kendra, India’s innovative approach to delivering quality medicines at affordable rates, stands testament to its prowess in healthcare. With over 9,600 such centres dotting the country, India’s commitment to its citizens remains paramount. Indonesia’s Health Minister’s keenness to emulate this model emphasises its global appeal and potential replicability.
