The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in Mumbai, with the help of a private institution, has started India’s first ‘Divyang’ hospital for differentlyabled patients for their coronavirus treatment. The hospital has been started at Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute at Sewood in Navi Mumbai, in which 25 beds have been reserved for differently-abled Covid-19 patients.  In addition, NMMC and the hospital will look after all the expenses of these patients.  The hospital will also treat autistic and mentally challenged patients as well.

Mumbai is already battling its hardest fight against coronavirus. Amid rapid increase in the number of cases, this hospital has given relief to people with disabilities who were facing many troubles during this situation. The hospital has made special arrangements like bathrooms, oxygen, ventilators as well as other necessary facilities.

“We have made changes in this hospital according to the requirement of the disabled people so that when they come here for treatment, they do not face any kind of trouble.  We have also deployed staff for wheelchair help,” said Anasaheb Missal, Commissioner of NMMC.
