India’s Covid tally nears 81L as Delhi crosses 5k cases for 3 days in a row

With 48,648 new Covid-19 infections reported in last 24-hours, India’s total cases surge to 80,88,851. With 563 new deaths, the toll mounted to 1,21,090. Total active cases are 5,94,386 after a decrease of 9,301 in the last 24 hours. Total cured cases are 73,73,375 with 57,386 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

For the third consecutive day, Delhi recorded over 5,000 new coronavirus cases with a new 24-hour high of 5,891 on Friday. The city had recorded its second-highest cases on Thursday at 5,739. The total case tally stands at 3,81,644 including 3,42,811 recoveries, 32,363 active cases and 6,470 deaths.

The worst-hit Maharashtra reported 6,190 new Covid-19 cases, 8,241 recoveries and 127 deaths in last twenty-four hours. The Covid-19 tally of the state rises to 16,72,858, with 15,03,050 recoveries and 43,837 deaths. Active cases now stand at 1,25,418.

Punjab reported 433 new Covid-19 cases, 577 discharged cases and 19 deaths in last 24 hours, taking total positive cases to 1,33,158 till date, including 1,24,870 discharges, 4,101 active cases and 4,187 deaths.

Haryana recorded 1,650 new coronavirus infections and 11 deaths in last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 1,179 patients recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recovered patients to 1,51,839. The total number of active infections stood at 11,851. The recovery rate was 91.76% and the fatality rate was 1.07%.

Madhya Pradesh reported 691 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 1,70,690, while 12 fatalities pushed the toll to 2,941. Meanwhile, 1,074 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, which took the overall recovery count to 1,58,455.

Rajasthan reported 10 more fatalities due to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 1,898, while 1,794 fresh cases pushed the tally to 1,95,213. The number of active cases in the state stands at 15,251. Meanwhile, 1,78,064 people have been discharged after treatment till now.

West Bengal reported the highest single-day recovery of 4,015 Covid-19 patients, taking the total number of cured people to 3,25,888.

Tamil Nadu reported 2,608 new Covid-19 cases, 38 deaths and 3,924 discharges in last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the state are now at 7,22,011 including 6,87,388 discharges and 11,091 deaths. There are 23,532 active cases in the state.

Karnataka reported 3,589 new Covid-19 cases, 8,521 discharges and 49 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 59,499, discharges to 7,49,740 and death toll to 11,140.
