With the novel coronavirus virus claiming 108 lives in a span of 24 hour, the COVID death toll in India rose to 1,55,360, taking the case fatality rate to stand at 1.43 percent.
The country’s infection tally climbed to 1,08,71,294 with 12,923 new cases recorded during the day. Meanwhile 1,05,73,372 people have recuperated so far, pushing the national recovery rate to 97.26 percent on Thursday.
There are 1,42,562 active cases of the coronavirus infection in the country right now, which accounts for 1.31 percent of the total caseload.
Delhi recorded 142 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Thursday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.22 percent. On February 9, no fatalities due to the coronavirus infection were recorded in the national capital.
Maharashtra reported 3,451 new cases and 30 deaths on February 10. 2,421 discharges were also reported. Maharashtra has so far reported a total of 20,52,253 cases, out of which 19,63,946 patients have recovered. The active caseload stood at 35,633, whereas, the death toll was recorded as 51,390
Odisha›s COVID-19 caseload on Thursday mounted to 3,35,984 after 95 more people tested positive for the infection. The toll remained unchanged at 1,910 as no fatalities were reported since Monday.
Tamil Nadu reported 481 new COVID-19 cases, 490 recoveries and 6 deaths today. The total number of coronavirus cases in the state mounted to 8,43,690 whereas 8,26,994 have recovered and 12,402 have died. Active cases stand at 4,294.
Kerala reported 5,980 new COVID-19 cases, 5,745 recoveries and 18 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases are 64,346. The state, along with Maharashtra, account for 71 percent of the total active cases in India.
Mizoram reported two new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 22 on Thursday. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 4,390, including 4,359 recoveries. The coronavirus death toll in the state stood at 9.
Karnataka on Thursday reported 430 fresh COVID-19 cases and seven deaths, taking the caseload and toll to 9,44,057 and 12,251, respectively. Active cases stood at 5,958.
