As India surpassed Russia to become the third worst-hit country by coronavirus after the total number of cases crossed the seven-lakh mark, the rising number of cases and deaths pushed the tally in the entire country to a figure of 7,00,150 and the death count to 19,795. The number of recoveries stand at 429,581 in the country. There are 2,53,287 active coronavirus cases in the country. As far as recovery rate is concerned, 60.85% of the patients have recovered and a total of 99,69,662 samples were tested for the disease in the country till 5July, with 1,80,596 just in last 24 hours.
In the national capital, the coronavirus cases have crossed the one lakh mark. With 1,379 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total Covid-19 count of the capital stood at 1,00,823. Recovered patients from the disease in the last 24 hours touched the mark of 749, taking the total to 72,088. 48 people have died in the last 24 hours, raising the count to 3,115. There are now 25,620 active cases in the city.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to hospitals to counsel their Covid-19 patients to donate plasma after 14 days of recovery from the disease, noting that the number of donors is yet to pick up pace. The Chief Minister said there is no need to worry about the figure, as around 72,000 people have already recovered from the virus.
Meanwhile Maharashtra remained the number one contributor to the rising coronavirus numbers’ tally, recording 5,368 new Covid-19 cases and 204 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 2,11,987 and death toll to 9,026: Number of active cases stands at 87,681. Recovery rate among the patients is 54.37%.
Gujarat reported 735 positive cases of Covid-19 and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state’s tally rose to 36,858, including 26,323 cured/discharged and 1,962 deaths. Meanwhile, Rajasthan reported 524 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 20,688 and death toll to 461. Number of active cases stands at 3,949.
Karnataka reported 1,843 Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 25,317, including 10,527 recoveries and 401 deaths. Highest 981 cases have been reported in Bengaluru in the last 24 hours. Kerala reported 193 new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 5,522. Active cases stand at 2,252. Tamil Nadu reported 61 deaths and 3,827 new Covid-19 positive cases. The total number of positive cases stands at 1,14,978, including 46,833 active cases and 1,571 deaths.
