In response to the terrorist attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch district, the Indian Army has initiated a large-scale search operation in the Shahsitar area of Surankote.
The attack, which claimed the life of one soldier and left four others injured, has spurred heightened security measures across the region. Armed bulletproof vehicles are actively patrolling the area, while a dedicated dog squad has been deployed to conduct thorough vehicle inspections as part of the ongoing search operation.

The primary objective is to locate and apprehend the perpetrators behind the attack, ensuring the safety of civilians in the vicinity. Senior officials from the Army, police, and paramilitary forces visited Poonch on May 5 to oversee the extensive search operation. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, confirmed the visit of Corps Commander of 16 Corps and other officials, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to identify and question suspects related to the incident.

Following the ambush, the injured personnel were swiftly evacuated to the Command Hospital in Udhampur, where tragically, one of the airmen succumbed to his injuries. In the aftermath, a comprehensive cordon and search operation was launched in collaboration with local Rashtriya Rifles units, the Army, and police to track down the assailants.
The IAF officially acknowledged the incident via a tweet, affirming the security of the targeted convoy and the commencement of an investigation into the attack.

With the security forces intensifying efforts to root out terrorism from the region, the search operation underscores the collective resolve to thwart nefarious activities and safeguard the peace and stability of the area.
