What’s Being Discussed? Israeli Diplomat’s Meets with Karnataka Deputy CM Sivakumar

Tammy Ben Haim, Israel’s Consul General in South India, met with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar at his Sadashivnagar residence on Saturday, exchanging insights and photographing the moment.

Following a reported breach of the seven-day truce by Hamas (allegedly launching rockets toward Israeli territory), Israel resumed military operations in Gaza’s southern region. Global leaders have urged measures to protect civilians as tensions rise, with CNN reporting numerous Palestinian casualties in Israeli strikes, which are contradicted by Israel’s claims that Hamas is using civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

Negotiations are underway to reinstate the truce, although there’s a discrepancy over Hamas’s claim of releasing all women and children—a contention disputed by Israel.

This meeting follows Tammy Ben-Haim’s recent discussions with former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, emphasizing the enhancement of ties between Israel and Karnataka. During her visit to Kumaraswamy’s Bidadi farm on November 9, Ben-Haim expressed Israel’s interest in collaborating with Karnataka across various sectors, including agriculture, technology, innovation, and cultural relations.

She reiterated Israel’s commitment to solidifying and advancing long-term relations with Karnataka. Ben-Haim also touched upon the October 7 attacks, condemning Hamas for its reported atrocities and extending gratitude to India for its support during trying times. Expressing concern, she highlighted the involvement of “unseen forces” providing aid to Hamas in terms of finance and weaponry.
