A dramatic rescue operation in Maharashtra’s Satara district has captured the attention of social media after a woman was saved from a 150-foot gorge. The incident occurred when the woman, part of a group of eight friends, allegedly fell into the deep ravine while attempting to take a selfie.

WATCH THE VIDEO:

A video of the rescue, posted by a Mumbai-based news account on X, shows the woman crying loudly as she clings to a rope and is guided to safety by a member of the Shivendra Raje rescue team. The caption of the post explained, “Young girl was brought to safety from a 150 feet gorge by members of the Shivendra Raje rescue team at Borne Ghat in Satara. The girl slipped & fell from the cliff while taking a selfie along with her group of 5 boys & 3 girls. Shivendra Raje group has received mountaineering training in Dehradun this June, that was sponsored by Satara Zilla Parishad.”

There are conflicting reports about how the woman fell. While some sources claim she slipped while taking a selfie, other reports quoting officials suggest she fell while attending to nature’s call during heavy rainfall in the region.

The video begins with the woman holding a rope and leaning on a man as they carefully ascend to safety. Her cries are audible throughout the clip, highlighting the distress of the situation.

The woman sustained injuries from the fall and was immediately taken to a hospital following her rescue.

This incident follows a similar tragic event where a 27-year-old travel influencer from Mumbai, Aanvi Kamdar, fell into a 300-foot gorge near Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The incident happened on July 16 while she was filming an Instagram reel. Aanvi was accompanied by seven friends, who promptly alerted local authorities. Despite a six-hour rescue operation, Aanvi succumbed to her injuries at the hospital due to the severity of her fall.

These incidents underscore the dangers associated with taking selfies or engaging in other activities near hazardous locations, especially during adverse weather conditions.
