UP: Woman kills another to pretend to be dead, inspired by TV

A woman and her lover were detained after they were accused of killing another woman to fake her own death.

According to authorities, the accused woman was motivated by a television programme. The victim was killed by the accused woman, Payal, and her partner, Ajay Thakur, according to the police. Payal is a resident of Badhpura village, which is about 15 kilometres from Greater Noida.

The police claimed that she attempted suicide and planted a suicide note in her own name.

According to officials, the deceased knew Ajay and worked in a mall in Greater Noida’s Gaur City neighbourhood.

When the suspect was questioned, he said that the victim had a similar build to Payal, which led to the idea to stage Payal’s demise.

Ajay brought the victim to Payal’s house, where she slit her neck and had hot oil and acid used to alter her face.

She managed to pass the body off as her own, even with her remaining family, and later escaped with her partner.

“Payal’s family believed it to be her body and also cremated it,” the police said.

However, the incident was discovered when the victim’s relatives reported him missing to the police.

As part of their investigation, the police arrested Payal and Ajay.

The accused woman admitted to the crime when questioned, according to officers at Dadri Police Station, and said that she and her partner had planned the scheme after seeing a TV serial a few months ago.

According to the initial investigation, Payal’s father owed money to his kin.

When he didn’t pay back the debt, he was harassed. According to officials, Payel’s parents hanged themselves to death after apparently running out of alternatives.

They claimed that the accused, Payal, planned to stage her own death after her parents committed suicide.

The police also recovered a country-made pistol from their possession.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
