Tremors Jolt Delhi-NCR After 5.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Nepal

Residents in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) felt tremors on Friday night when a 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal.

The National Center for Seismology reports that the quake happened at a depth of 10 kilometers. While the epicenter of the quake was Nepal, its impact was felt in northern India’s parts, including the highly populated capital region.

Up to now, no reports of injuries or serious damage have been made. Still, the abrupt shakings induced terror among citizens, who scurried out of their structures for fear. Governments put emergency teams on stand-by and closely tracked developments.

This seismic movement highlights the vulnerability of the Himalayas, which suffer from repeated earthquakes owing to being along a huge tectonic fault line.
