International rap sensation Travis Scott is finally coming to India as part of his highly anticipated Circus Maximus World Tour. The Grammy-nominated rapper will be performing at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 18, 2025. Because of the huge demand, a second show was also announced for October 19 at the same venue.
The tickets for both shows went on sale on April 5 and were sold out in minutes, leaving lakhs of fans waiting in virtual queues as long as 2-3 lakh individuals. This online mayhem unleashed a social media meltdown, memes, and anger about ticketing troubles.
Social Media Meltdown Over Ticket Queues
The ticket scramble caused supporters to rant about it online. Memes equating the numbers in the ticket lines to Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) rankings saturated sites such as X (formerly Twitter).
“When you attempt to book Travis Scott concert tickets on BookMyShow, but it shows your JEE rank,” one user joked.
Another said, “At this point, Travis Scott’s queue numbers made me think I’m staring at JEE again.” Some also remembered similar disappointment at Coldplay’s concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad this year.
Nevertheless, some lucky fans did manage to secure tickets and proudly posted screenshots online, fueling even more jealousy.
Ticket Prices and Soaring Resale Fees
The initial ticket prices varied from ₹3,500 for general entry to ₹30,000 for lounge passes. Standing tickets were available for ₹6,500 and ₹15,000. Soon after both performances sold out, resale sites such as Viagogo posted tickets at outrageous prices—up to ₹3,00,000. Even the lowest-priced tickets on black market websites cost ₹5,582, much higher than their face value.
Black Marketing Returns Despite Coldplay Controversy
The problem of black marketing has come back barely months after a similar outcry during Coldplay’s India concerts. In spite of instructions from ticketing sites and warnings by law enforcement agencies, ticket resale remains unchecked. Fans have called for more stringent regulatory measures and openness in online ticket sales.
