A tragic incident in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the death of a man, his daughter, and his niece after they were electrocuted by a high-tension electric cable.
The shocking event, which occurred in the Sonbarsa market area, was captured on CCTV, showing the man and the two girls riding a bike. As they made a left turn near a garbage dump, they came into contact with an 11,000-volt high-tension wire and were electrocuted. The bike immediately caught fire, and the trio perished on the spot before anyone could intervene.
DK Singh, the Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department, explained that the wire snapped after a monkey jumped onto it, causing it to fall onto the victims. The incident is under investigation. In response, the electricity department has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each of the victims’ families.
