Three people died and two others were critically injured when a truck ran over them while they were sleeping on the road verge in Shastri Nagar early Monday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred around 4:56 a.m. in the Shastri Park area. Dr. Joy Tirkey, DCP North East Delhi, reported that a canter truck, traveling from Seelampur to Iron Bridge, veered off course, mounted the central verge, and struck five individuals sleeping on the footpath. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
The victims, identified as Mustaq and Kamlesh, sustained serious injuries and were transported to JPC Hospital. Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased individuals. The police are actively searching for the driver and continuing their investigation into the incident.
