Security Forces Thwart Infiltration Attempt in J-K’s Keran; Two Terrorists Killed

Security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector, resulting in the death of two terrorists on Thursday,  according to officials.

The Indian Army reported, “In a significant operation, the Indian Army successfully eliminated two terrorists who were trying to cross the Line of Control in the Keran Sector of Kashmir.”

The Army’s release, dated July 17, detailed that credible intelligence from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), supported by further input from intelligence agencies, had indicated that a group of foreign terrorists was likely attempting to infiltrate through the Keran Sector.

The release continued, “On July 18, at approximately 12:30 a.m., vigilant troops detected the movement of two terrorists through dense foliage on their side of the LoC. The infiltrators were challenged and responded with gunfire, resulting in a fierce firefight.”

The operation led to the death of the two foreign terrorists, with the recovery of weapons, military supplies, and a Pakistani identity card.

This successful operation highlights the effective coordination between the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and JKP. It marks the third successful anti-infiltration operation at the LoC in recent weeks and reinforces the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to preserving the integrity of the LoC and upholding peace in the Kashmir Valley.

Previously, two Indian Army soldiers were injured in a clash with terrorists in the Kastigarh area of Doda district. This encounter follows a recent incident where four army soldiers, including an officer, lost their lives in a confrontation with terrorists in Doda.
