Second Edition Of Purvodaya Perspectives Conference Held In Bhubaneswar

The second edition of ‘Purvodaya Perspectives’, an international conference themed ‘Reclaiming India’s Maritime Heritage – Perspectives, Prospects, and Prognosis’, is taking place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from December 14 to 15. The event is hosted by The Energy Forum (TEF) with assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as part of its foreign policy efforts.

Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) at MEA, presented the keynote speech, concentrating on the maritime economy’s significance in unlocking the economic potential of India’s Eastern Seaboard, including Odisha. He also highlighted initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Indo-Pacific vision, SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).

Earlier this year, at the QUAD Summit in the US, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the importance of a “Free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific” as a common priority. In October, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh similarly echoed PM Modi’s vision of SAGAR during the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) 2024, underlining India’s dedication to building partnerships aimed at sustainable development, economic growth, and mutual security.

The Ministry of External Affairs provided updates on the event via X, stating, “Secy(East) @JaideepMazumder delivered keynote address on the theme ‘Reclaiming India’s Maritime Heritage- Perspectives, Prospects, and Prognosis’ at the 2nd edition of the ‘Purvodaya Perspectives’ in Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha today. #PurvodayaPerspectives2024”
