Resurgent comeback to forefront post-elections

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is pulling all the stops to do justice to his post and responsibilities. His aggressive mode and the way he has been questioning the ruling government is showing his active involvement in the party politics.

Moreover, he appears to be the voice of common people. Therefore, his agility clearly indicates that he would be in the driving seat rather than going on a holiday.

The Congress party is feeling resurrected this time by victory over 99 seats. The party has got oxygen and Rahul has started trying to take full advantage of that oxygen. After being deeply involved in the Lok Sabha elections and subsequent parliamentary duties, Rahul Gandhi has now shifted his focus to engaging with the public and understanding their issues. Recently, he spent time with workers on Thursday and met with a locomotive pilot on Friday. Amidst these engagements, he also visited Hathras and Aligarh, actively managing political affairs in Uttar Pradesh.

Although Rahul’s primary purpose for visiting was to meet with families of the Hathras victims, his presence there carried a significant underlying message. This marked Rahul’s return to Uttar Pradesh after a hiatus of five years. Following his electoral defeat in Amethi in 2019, Rahul had delegated Uttar Pradesh responsibilities to his sister Priyanka, albeit with limited success.

Now, with a recent victory in Rae Bareli, Rahul has resumed active engagement in Uttar Pradesh politics. Despite Congress’ alliance with SP in the state, Rahul has been pursuing his political agenda independently. His recent visits, particularly to Hathras, where he expressed condolences and support to the victims’ families, underscore his renewed commitment to grassroots issues and public outreach.

Rahul Gandhi reentered the Lok Sabha elections, securing victory in Rae Bareli after relinquishing the Wayanad seat. His return has revitalized his involvement in Uttar Pradesh politics, despite Congress’ alliance with the SP. Employing his distinct political approach, Rahul adopted an assertive strategy, visiting the Hathras victims on Thursday morning to offer condolences personally. This gesture is likely to resonate strongly among party workers.

His sister, Priyanka Gandhi, the party’s general secretary, promptly conveyed Rahul’s solidarity with the victims’ families. Following the visit, Rahul appealed to the state government to provide adequate compensation and support to the families during this challenging time.

Notably, Rahul undertook this visit independently, without prior coordination with state leaders or mobilizing crowds, conveying a clear political message.

Upon returning to Delhi, Rahul engaged with railway drivers to understand their concerns, consistent with his pre-election practice of connecting with the public. Recognizing the electoral benefits of such engagements, Rahul’s strategists emphasize the importance of maintaining his active presence beyond elections. Thus, Rahul continues to prioritize public outreach and engagement, ensuring his continued political relevance.
