“Report from Whatsapp University”: Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes EAC

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, responded to the report from the Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM) on Thursday. He dismissed it as a “report from Whatsapp University.”

When questioned about the declining share of the Hindu population, Owaisi requested to see the report first before responding. He questioned the source and credibility of the report, referring to it as being from “Whatsapp University.”

Owaisi’s remarks come amidst a report from the Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM), which highlighted a decrease in the majority Hindu population’s share in India. According to the report, between 1950 and 2015, the Hindu population decreased by 7.82%, from 84.68% to 78.06%. Meanwhile, the Muslim population increased from 9.84% in 1950 to 14.09% in 2015, marking a 43.15% rise in their share.

Amit Malviya, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s in-charge of the National Information and Technology Department, targeted the Congress party in response to the EAC-PM report. Malviya suggested that if the Congress were to govern the country, there would be no place for Hindus.

Amit Malviya took to his official X handle to express concern over the shrinking share of Hindus and the significant growth in the Muslim population between 1950 and 2015. He attributed this trend to decades of Congress rule, suggesting that under their governance, there would be no place for Hindus.

Keshav Prasad Maurya, Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, echoed similar sentiments, blaming the Congress for the decline in the Hindu population. He attributed the rise in the Muslim population to the Congress’s policy of Muslim appeasement.

According to the EAC report, the Christian population’s share increased from 2.24% to 2.36% between 1950 and 2015, marking a 5.38% rise. Similarly, the Sikh population saw an increase from 1.24% in 1950 to 1.85% in 2015, representing a 6.58% rise. The Buddhist population also witnessed a notable increase from 0.05% in 1950 to 0.81%.

Conversely, the Jain population’s share decreased from 0.45% in 1950 to 0.36% in 2015. The Parsi population experienced a significant 85% decline, reducing from 0.03% in 1950 to 0.004% in 2015.
