In response to recent terror attacks, the Reasi Administration has mandated the verification of all outsiders working in shops, hotels, and construction sites within the district. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of the general public and the pilgrims visiting the revered shrines of Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori.

District Commissioner Visheshpal Mahajan, speaking exclusively to The Daily Guardian, stated, “The directive highlights the importance of identifying all workers to mitigate any potential threats.” This decision follows the tragic terrorist attack on the Shiv Khori Pilgrimage on June 9, 2024, which resulted in the death of nine pilgrims.

The administration has instructed that comprehensive details, including Aadhar numbers and mobile numbers, of all workers engaged in the district be collected. This initiative is designed to prevent any ‘anti-social’ elements from masquerading as workers and posing a danger to the community.

In addition to construction workers, other departments and agencies have been tasked with sharing information about individuals who are not originally from Reasi but are currently residing or working in the district. The administration emphasizes that these measures are crucial to maintaining security and ensuring the well-being of both residents and visitors.
