President Droupadi Murmu has nominated new governors in nine states, as well as a new Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
The President has selected Om Prakash Mathur, a former Rajya Sabha MP, as Governor of Sikkim. Former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed Governor of Jharkhand, while Ramen Deka, a former Lok Sabha MP from Assam, has been named Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been named Governor of Rajasthan, while former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma is the new Governor of Telangana.
Former Karnataka Minister CH Vijayashankar has been named governor of Meghalaya. CP Radhakrishnan, who is currently Governor of Jharkhand, has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra.
Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been named Governor of Assam, with an additional duty of Governor of Manipur.
K Kailashnathan, a former IAS official, has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
