PM Modi Slams MK Stalin: ‘Some Cry Without Reason’ Over Tamil Nadu’s Growing Central Aid

PM Narendra Modi’s remarks at the inauguration of Tamil Nadu’s Pamban bridge sent a sharp message to the state’s opposition. In a veiled jab at CM MK Stalin, PM Modi suggested that some politicians “cry without any reason.” He implied that the opposition’s complaints were baseless. The comment responded to MK Stalin’s criticism of the central government, especially over delimitation and the third language issue. While the opposition raised concerns, PM Modi highlighted the central government’s substantial financial aid and investment in Tamil Nadu, especially in rail infrastructure.

Rising Central Allocation: A Clear Response to Criticism

PM Modi pointed out the central government’s major investment in Tamil Nadu’s railway sector, citing a remarkable increase in funding. Prior to 2014, the state only got Rs 900 crore per annum for the construction of railways, but now the amount has risen to more than Rs 6,000 crore. This increased funding covers the modernization of 77 railway stations, with major stations such as Rameswaram getting an upgrade. The Rameswaram station, crucial for tourism and religious significance, will see improved safety and better passenger services, boosting local economies. His remarks aimed to highlight the Centre’s strong commitment to Tamil Nadu’s development, suggesting that opposition criticisms were unjustified given the substantial financial support directed towards infrastructure projects.

PM Modi Highlights Contributions

PM Modi also focused on the success of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). “Under the scheme, 4,000 kilometers of roads have been built in Tamil Nadu in the last decade,” he said. This infrastructure development has improved rural connectivity, especially in remote areas, and strengthened Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure. The success of PMGSY shows the central government’s role in driving progress despite political tensions between the state and the Centre.

PM Modi’s remarks, though pointed, highlight the central government’s significant investments in Tamil Nadu. They urge the opposition to reconsider their criticisms. Despite political tensions, the Centre remains committed to reshaping Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure.
