The Amir is in India for a state visit from February 17 to 18, during which he is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Prime Minister Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the Amir of Qatar’s visit will provide “further momentum to our growing multifaceted partnership.” He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation, as per the MEA’s statement.
According to the media advisory, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar will meet the Amir on Monday evening following his arrival. On Tuesday morning, the Amir will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, after which he will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Modi at the Hyderabad House.
The two leaders will discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, as mentioned in the MEA’s statement on Saturday.
An exchange of MoUs is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, after which the Amir will meet President Murmu, according to the advisory.
India and Qatar share deep-rooted historical ties based on friendship, trust, and mutual respect. In recent years, the relationship between the two countries has strengthened in areas such as trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people ties.
The Indian community in Qatar, the largest expatriate group in the country, is “appreciated for its positive contribution in the progress and development of Qatar,” the MEA noted earlier.
