The Prime Minister emphasized that Shyamji Krishna Varma’s unwavering determination and dedication to the freedom cause will always be remembered, highlighting how his founding of the India House became a cornerstone for the independence movement abroad.

Hailing from Gujarat, Shyamji Krishna Varma was a prominent freedom fighter who established the Indian Home Rule Society, The Indian Sociologist, and India House in London. Initially a barrister in London, he faced disbarment for his outspoken criticism of the colonial administration. Varma also imparted Sanskrit teachings at Oxford University.
