Wife of BSF Jawan Travels to Firozpur in Search of Husband Detained by Pakistan Rangers

Rajani, the wife of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, has decided to travel to Firozpur via Pathankot in search of answers. Her husband was detained by Pakistan Rangers after accidentally crossing the border while on duty. She has not received any updates for over 72 hours, and her anxiety is growing with each passing hour.

Permission Granted to Travel Despite Concerns

Initially, the commanding officer tried to prevent Rajani from traveling due to her pregnancy and the ongoing discussions between India and Pakistan. However, after further consideration, she was granted permission. Rajani will be accompanied by her two sisters and cousin.

Rajani’s Urgency to Find Answers

“I cannot sit and wait here till eternity. I have not heard from him for over 72 hours now. If I don’t get help there, I will go to Delhi and seek answers from the PMO,” Rajani said. Her anxiety grew after seeing a disturbing photo of her husband blindfolded. Furthermore, Purnam’s mother, Devanti Devi, expressed her distress, stating, “I just want my son to return safely.”

Government’s Support and Reassurances

In response, officials from Nabanna, along with Rishra Municipality chairman Bijoy Sagar Mishra, visited the Shaw residence on Saturday. They reassured the family that the state government would continue to work with the Centre. Additionally, MP Kalyan Banerjee took to X to share that he spoke with the BSF DG, who confirmed that Purnam was safe and in good health.
