After Microsoft announced a disruption in some of its cloud services, the central government has engaged with Microsoft and its partners to address the global outage. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, stated on X that the cause of the outage has been identified and fixes are being applied. The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is issuing a technical advisory, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is unaffected.

The NIC, a part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, supports the Indian government with technology solutions and has been operational since 1976.

On Friday, Indian airlines reported that their systems are experiencing issues due to the ongoing Microsoft Azure outage. Travelers are advised to contact their airlines for the latest flight information. Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that provides various services to individuals, businesses, and governments.

Indigo Airlines has informed passengers that the Microsoft Azure issue is causing longer wait times at contact centers and airports, leading to slower check-ins and longer queues. They assured that their team is working closely with Microsoft to resolve the problem and thanked passengers for their patience.

Akasa Air has also faced disruptions, affecting its online services such as booking and check-ins. They are currently using manual check-in processes and advised passengers to arrive early at the airport. Akasa apologized for the inconvenience and is working with its service provider to fix the issues.

SpiceJet reported similar technical difficulties and is experiencing challenges in updating flight information. They are working to resolve the problem and ensure that all scheduled flights depart as planned. SpiceJet is collaborating with airports and authorities to reduce disruptions and ensure passenger comfort.

Air India has noted that their digital systems are temporarily affected by the outage, causing delays. They advised travelers to plan accordingly and apologized for the inconvenience.

Delhi Airport mentioned that the global IT issue has temporarily impacted some airport services. The airport is working with stakeholders to minimize the disruption.

Microsoft is investigating the problem affecting Microsoft 365 apps and services. They are working to reroute traffic to alternate systems to minimize the impact and are continuously making improvements while addressing the issue.
