Manish Sisodia slams L-G, Centre over delay in appointing 244 principals in government schools

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, slammed Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena regarding the appointments of 244 principals in the government schools of Delhi.

Sisodia, while addressing a press conference on Sunday, said that on Saturday, L-G approved the appointment of 126 principals at the government’s schools.

He accused the BJP-led Centre of having an illegitimate hold on the services department. He further added that, in the absence of principles, schools are forced to function under the guidance of the vice principal.

The proposal for the appointments of 370 principals was sent to the UPSC in 2015. Following that, the Center and the L-G took control of the service department, and principals could not be appointed.

The Delhi government took the matter seriously and forced the L-G to make new appointments, so 126 names were chosen from 370 applicants for the vacant positions. However, LG has not mentioned the remaining 244 names that were not sent. Sisodia further added that L-G should also understand that these 244 schools also need principals for their proper functioning.

“I request that L-G approve all principal appointments because it is concerned about the future of children,” he said.

We have knocked on the door of the Supreme Court amid the appointment of principals. If the apex court takes action in this matter, then appointments will take place at a rapid pace.

The BJP talks about a thorough study in this matter to unearth the truth. Sisodia stated that he would request that the BJP conduct a study to determine whether or not Delhi requires an L-G.
