Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Promises Thorough Investigation into Baba Siddique’s Killing

Following the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the state government and the Home Department would thoroughly investigate the incident, pledging strict action against those involved. Shinde described the killing as “unfortunate” and emphasized the government’s responsibility to uphold law and order.

“It is the government’s duty to maintain law and order… This incident was indeed unfortunate… Many suspects have already been arrested. The government and Home Department will reach the roots of this matter, and no one involved will be spared. Strict action will be taken,” Shinde said.

Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, was shot dead on October 12 by three assailants near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique, in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area. He sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has claimed responsibility for the murder, and Mumbai Police has made 15 arrests in the case so far.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed his party’s stance regarding the candidacy of Nawab Malik from Mankhurd, stating that the Yuti coalition would not support Malik’s campaign. “Our decision is firm, and our candidate is contesting. Our stand is clear… We will not change our stand… We will see on November 4. Ajit Pawar is our alliance partner, and we will work together,” he stated.

Shinde went on to highlight his government’s focus on the welfare of the common man. “I see myself as a CM for the common man… Protocols don’t restrict me. I go directly to people, listen to them, and talk with them. I believe farmers have the first right to our government’s treasury. We have allocated Rs. 15,000 crore over two years to compensate for losses. When the Opposition questions if it’s the CM’s job to be on the streets, I ask if it’s the CM’s job to sit at home. We are a government that works face-to-face, not a deaf and dumb administration.”

He added, “I’m proud that people feel this is their government… My Ladli Yojana has been a huge success. If a request from the CM Relief Fund comes, I sign it immediately, wherever I am. Saving one lakh lives is a blessing for me.”
