Neiv Gupta and Srishti Joshi achieved the top positions in the ICSE Class 10 exams in the Chandigarh tricity region, both scoring 99.2 per cent marks, according to the results announced on Monday.

Neiv Gupta, a student of Little Flower Convent School in Panchkula sector 14, expressed his aspiration to become a computer science engineer, following in the footsteps of his sister Navya.

Both Neiv Gupta and Srishti Joshi secured 99.2 per cent marks in their best five subjects, with English being mandatory.

Neiv, residing in Panchkula sector 17, comes from a family where his father, Rahul Gupta, works in the financial sector, and his mother works in the insurance sector. His elder sister, Navya, 21, had also excelled academically, scoring 97.4 per cent in the same school and is currently pursuing a degree in computer science engineering.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Neiv highlighted the importance of consistency. “You have to be consistent in giving your best. It is not necessary to put in 7-8 hours until you are not giving quality hours,” he said. Neiv emphasized the need to avoid distractions, including social media, stating that he deleted his accounts to stay focused on his goals.

Neiv, who achieved a perfect score of 100 in maths, computers, and science, mentioned that he would occasionally watch TV for a few minutes to take a break. He also emphasized the importance of discussing doubts with teachers and participating in extracurricular activities to improve speech and overall skills.

Neiv’s father, Rahul Gupta, emphasized that they never pressured their son and supported him in his decisions. Neiv would dedicate three hours to self-study every day, in addition to focusing on his school syllabus. He believes that perseverance and patience are crucial for success.

Neiv has chosen the non-medical stream and aims to study computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination.

He also mentioned that he never believed in private tuition, relying instead on self-study and school lessons.
