Despite the huge claims of Health department officials of decrease, Haryana continues to witness an acute spurt in fresh cases of Dengue as compared to last year requiring the health department to come up with additional preventive measures.
While Panchkula district is at the top in terms of new cases of dengue, fresh cases of disease are being reported continuously in many districts falling on the GT Road belt which is a matter of serious concern. Hisar and Panchkula have become hot spot centers and disease resulted in untimely death of a young patiesin Agroha Medical College of Hisar. Among the most affected districts are Hisar, Panchkula, Gurugram, Kurukshetra Karnal, Rewari, Sonipat and Faridabad districts. It is pertinent to mention that if a patient has to get tested in a private hospital, then the government has fixed standard price of Rs 600 for treatment. The Dengue test is free in government hospitals. If a patient has a lack of platelets, then its cost is 11 thousand rupees. At the same time, it is available free in the government hospital.

information about dengue cases is also shared with the Municipal Corporations across the state in the concerned districts. Besides, door-to-door activities are being carried out to identify and eliminate the breeding sources of mosquitoes. By 30 October 2024, a total of 35674860 houses were visited and larvae were found in 179875 houses.
In continuation to aforesaid it is pertinent to mention the highest number of 11836 cases came in the year 2021 during a period of 10 years. In the year 2015, a total of 9921 dengue cases were reported in the state. At the same time, 2494 cases were reported in the year 2016. After this, a massive reduction was recorded in new cases in 2017 to 4550 and in 2018. A total of 1936 cases of the disease were reported this year. Then in the year 2020, 1377 cases were confirmed. After this, in the year 2021, dengue cases witnessed an increase as a total of 11836 cases were confirmed, besides, a total of 8996 and 8081 cases were reported in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
So far 4 people have lost their lives due to the disease in Haryana in 2024. Although it is believed that more people have died due to the disease but some deaths have been kept in the category of suspicious deaths by the department. In this row, it is noteworthy that Haryana a total of 1 patients died due to the disease followed by 13 patients died in 2015. There has been no death due to the disease in the period of 5 years from 2016 to the year 2020 and further , a total of 44 people have died in the 9-year period from 2015 to 2023. Thus, on an average, more than 5 people have died every year due to the disease. At the same time, in the year 2024, four patients have died of the disease so far.
All the four VBDs prevalent in Haryana have been notified under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 till March 31, 2027 and all private hospitals/laboratories have been notified to report each case to the health authorities within 24 hours of detection. Door-to-door fever monitoring has been intensified in all districts for the diagnosis of malaria. Rapid fever surveys are being conducted in all villages to check fever cases for malaria from 1 to 10 of every month from May to October. Dengue investigation has been strengthened in all districts. Blood sampling has also been started at CHC/PHC level, with focus on high-risk areas. Fogging is carried out by the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat Department. A total of 5606 hand-operated and 43 vehicle-operated fogging machines are available in the state. Gambusia fish are being released into reservoirs from mother fish hatcheries. A total of 9093 reservoirs have been identified and Gambusia have been put in about 8459. A total of 116 mother hatcheries are available in the state. Temephos larvicide is being used in water containers that cannot be emptied. The «Municipal Bye-laws (Control of VBD)-2010» is in force in the state under which about 103485 notices have been issued to the owners of the premises where mosquito breeding has been found till 15 September 2024.
