A war of words has broken out between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar. Gehlot on Thursday hit out at Khattar, saying that Haryana police was not cooperating in the arrest of the accused in the case where two Muslim men were killed in Bhiwani in February. Rather, the Haryana police registered an FIR against the Rajasthan police, Gehlot said.
Gehlot responded to Khattar’s earlier comments that the Rajasthan police was “free to act” against Monu Manesar, who was booked in the killing of two men from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur—Nasir and Junaid.
The concern of the Rajasthan government is that the peaceful state should not come under the grip of violence. Many attempts were made earlier also, but due to the awareness of the government, the violence was brought under control soon. Monu Manesar, whose name has figured in Nuh violence, tried to spoil the atmosphere in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur as well. He is facing charges of murder. When the Rajasthan Police raided Haryana in search of him, the local police did not help. Gehlot said the Haryana Police is not cooperating with the Rajasthan Police in finding the accused who are absconding. Khattar failed to stop the violence happening in Haryana and is now making such statements just to divert the attention of the people which is not appropriate, Gehlot alleged. In fact, Bharatpur and Alwar of Rajasthan have also been affected by the violence in Haryana’s Nuh. Elections are due in Rajasthan by the end of this year. If the fire of communal violence reaches Rajasthan then it will become a big issue. Monu Manesar is related to Haryana only and he is associated with a Hindu organization. Many arrests have been made regarding the violence that took place in Haryana.
