Four individuals died after becoming unconscious due to a suspected poisonous gas leak while working inside a well in Kurraha village, Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The victims have been identified as Sheikh Altaf (21), Sheikh Aslam (37), Sheikh Wasir (65), and Munna Kushwaha (45).
According to Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police Agam Jain, “The incident occurred in Kurraha village under the Garhi Malhara police station area. Our teams are on-site, and all bodies have been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.”
District hospital doctor Ashish Shukla reported that the well, approximately 10 to 12 feet deep, was the site where the victims fell unconscious. “One person fell inside, and others who attempted to rescue him also lost consciousness and died,” he said.
Initial assessments suggest a poisonous gas leak in the well, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is completed.
