FORMER DELHI TOP COP PUBLISHES MEMOIR ‘SAILING ON MY OWN COMPASS: A POLICEMAN’S DIARY’

Former IPS officer and a top cop of Delhi, Mukund Kaushal launched his memoir ‘Sailing On My Own Compass-A Policeman’s Diary’ at the India International Centre on June 5. The book brings out the bravery and determination of the officer, along with a touch of humanity. The book is an eye-opener for the younger generation of civil aspirants as it outlines “authentic leadership” and the confidence required to be a true police officer.

Mukund Kaushal is also an active contributor to the IC Centre for Governance on leadership and ethics. While explaining his professional rectitude and humanity, Mukul Kaushal said, “I mostly did what I thought I should do.” During his tenure as an IPS officer, he learned leadership qualities, keen observation, the importance of credibility, and so forth. “Leadership is a continuous process,” he said. The event discusses that the mark of true leadership lies in humanism, being truthful and correct, and shouldering responsibilities, acknowledging the team, and accepting mistakes, without ruffling any political wisdom. During his tenure, he also introduced some innovative ideas and had always been known for supporting his subordinates. He always took the responsibility for all his actions and his teams. In his book, the author narrates the actual incidents of several sensational events in Indian history, such as the election of 1996 in Jammu and Kashmir, the challenges and the consequences of the Babri Masjid demolitions, and so on. The author was inspired to write his memoir during the lockdown.

Eminent dignitaries like Former cabinet secretary and the first Governor of Jharkhand Prabhat Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant, Former General Officer Commanding 15 Corps (Srinagar) Lt. General Syed Ata Hasnain, Former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University and presently the Chancellor at K.R. Mangalam University Professor Dinesh Singh, Founder Chairman of Nexus of Good Foundation Anil Swarup, political editor of Hindustan Times Vinod Sharma, Former Commissioner of Delhi Police Nikhil Kumar and the author Mukund Kaushal were present at the event. The book consists of 33 chapters, each describing the topsy-turvy journey of his career as an officer. The book has received four-star ratings on Amazon.
