Delhi police held patient for attacking doctor at hospital

A doctor at a private hospital in Delhi was allegedly stabbed with a knife inside the facility, according to authorities on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and the doctor received only a slight cut on his thumb as the attacker was apprehended by guards at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr Satnam Chabra, a neurosurgeon, was attacked on Tuesday by Rajkumar, 21, whom he has been treating since 2021, according to police.

According to authorities, Rajkumar attempted to assault the doctor with a small knife during a consultation appointmentArrest , but was overcome by medical staff.

The police detained Rajkumar, and on the doctor’s allegation, legal action was filed against him under the Prevention of Violence Against Doctors, Medical Professionals, and Medical Institutions Bill, 2018.

Earlier this year, a doctor on duty in Kerala’s Kottarakara was stabbed to death in a government hospital by a patient taken there by police for treatment.

On May 11, a delegation of doctors led by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) met with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, citing concerns about the protection of health workers following the death of a doctor.
