At least six fatalities occurred in rain-related incidents across Delhi, including a laborer trapped under a collapsing wall in Vasant Vihar and a cab driver killed in a canopy collapse at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1 on Friday.
The national capital woke up to an overcast morning on Saturday with light showers following a record-breaking rainfall of 228.1 mm in 24 hours on Friday, the highest June rainfall in 88 years.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rainfall over the next five days, with parts of Delhi expecting heavy showers until July 1. Saturday’s minimum temperature in Delhi was 28.0 °C, near normal for this season, compared to 24.7 °C the previous day.

1. Many parts of the city remain waterlogged, with widespread power outages reported.
2. IMD reports that June’s rainfall total has reached 234.5 mm, significantly exceeding the normal monthly average of 74.1 mm.
3. Three bodies of laborers were recovered from the rubble of a collapsed wall in Vasant Vihar, with two identified as Santosh Kumar Yadav (19) and Santosh (38); the third remains unidentified.
4. Rescue operations continue to ensure no one else is trapped, involving teams from NDRF, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, and civic agencies.
5. Two boys aged 8 and 10 drowned in a rainwater-filled ditch in New Usmanpur, while another man drowned in a flooded underpass in Shalimar Bagh.
6. A 39-year-old man was electrocuted in Prem Nagar, Rohini.
7. Uprooted trees damaged properties and parked cars across residential areas.
8. The Delhi government has established a 24-hour control room to monitor waterlogging, as announced by minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.
9. Operations at Delhi Airport T-1 remain suspended indefinitely following the canopy collapse, affecting around 200 daily flights. Civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu has set up a war room to assist affected passengers with refunds or alternate flights within seven days.
