Advancements in technology are continuously pushing the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can achieve. A recent experiment by Google’s AI company, DeepMind, involved testing a robot against 29 table tennis players with varying skill levels—beginner, intermediate, advanced, and advanced+—as categorized by a professional table tennis coach. The matches, which followed standard table tennis rules with a few adjustments due to the robot’s inability to serve, revealed that the robot won 45% of the matches and 46% of the games. Specifically, the robot triumphed in all matches against beginners, lost all matches against advanced and advanced+ players, and secured victories in 55% of matches against intermediate players.
