Congress MLA Sahab Singh Gurjar Booked for Assaulting Women in Gwalior

Sahab Singh Gurjar, a Congress MLA from Gwalior Rural Assembly Constituency, along with several others, has been booked for allegedly assaulting women in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh, according to police officials on Tuesday.

The incident took place at MLA Gurjar’s residence in the Ohadpur, Mahalgaon area on Monday. A group of women, accompanied by men, had visited Gurjar to discuss issues related to electricity. Following the altercation, they went to the Superintendent of Police (SP) office to file a complaint.

Superintendent of Police Dharmaveer Singh said, “A written complaint was filed by Munni Lodhi, a resident of Mau Pahari locality. Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered against Congress MLA Sahab Singh Gurjar and some unidentified individuals.”

The FIR includes charges under sections 115 (2), 296, and 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS), 2023. The investigation is ongoing, Singh added.

Earlier on Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police Shiyaz KM reported, “Several women, along with men from Mau Pahadi village, came to see the SP, alleging that MLA Sahab Singh Gurjar had mistreated and assaulted them. Since the SP was unavailable at that time, I listened to their grievances and instructed them to submit a written complaint.”

The complainants informed the police that their issue involved an electric transformer. They claimed that they had been promised the installation of the transformer before the elections and had previously met with the MLA about this matter. On Monday, when they visited Gurjar again, a dispute erupted, leading to their alleged assault, according to the police.

“We have asked the complainants to submit a detailed written complaint about their allegations. Further action will be taken based on the ongoing investigation,” the ASP said.
