Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday stated that the notices issued in newspapers against welfare schemes announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2025 assembly are false, She also accused the BJP of pressuring the Delhi government officials to execute this.
The Delhi chief minister vowed to take action against the officials involved in the release of the notification.Addressing mediapersons, Atishi stated that the cabinet’s decision on the Mahila Samman Yojana is already in the public domain.
“The notices issued in newspapers today are wrong. BJP by putting pressure on a few officers got this notice published today. Administrative and Police action will be taken against these officers. The information that the Mahila Samman Yojana has been notified by the Delhi Cabinet is in the public domain….”, Atishi said.
Kejriwal assured Delhiites that they trust his leadership, not the BJP’s accusations. “I have fulfilled promises of free electricity, water, bus travel for women, pilgrimages for seniors, and improved schools and hospitals. The BJP, in contrast, has consistently failed to deliver on its promises,” he said.
He elaborated on the new schemes, stating that the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ promises every woman Rs. 2,100 upon AAP’s electoral victory.
The Delhi Cabinet has already approved Rs. 1,000 per woman, with the notification issued. Kejriwal added, “If we win, this amount will be increased to Rs. 2,100.” Similarly, the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ offers free medical treatment for senior citizens aged 60 and above at both private and government hospitals.
Kejriwal emphasized the schemes’ positive reception, noting that nearly 12.5 lakh women had registered.
for the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana,’ along with 1.5–2 lakh senior citizens for the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana.’ He accused the BJP of being in “panic mode” and attempting to discredit these initiatives. “The public trusts us, and everyone who registers will receive the benefits post-elections. The BJP’s goal is to block these benefits and dismantle free electricity in Delhi,” he said.
Kejriwal also claimed that during his tenure, he resisted immense pressure to privatize Delhi’s electricity companies, which would have ended free electricity. “As long as I am alive, free bus travel for women and other benefits will continue, even if the BJP sends me to jail ten times,” he declared. He dismissed the BJP’s notices as futile attempts to undermine public trust, stating, “The people of Delhi stand with us.”
Highlighting the BJP’s unfulfilled promises, Kejriwal said, “They vowed to give Rs. 15 lakh to every citizen, create two crore jobs, and build concrete houses for all by 2022—none of which materialized. They even failed to double farmers’ incomes.” In contrast, he listed AAP’s achievements, including free electricity, water, bus travel for women, and improved education and healthcare. “Every promise we made, we delivered. The BJP cannot claim the same.”
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also condemned the BJP’s allegations, calling them “false and baseless.” She accused the BJP of pressuring officials to spread misinformation through newspapers, warning of administrative and legal action against those involved.
Atishi clarified that the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ has been approved by the Delhi Cabinet and officially notified. The scheme guarantees Rs. 1,000 per woman, with a promise to increase this to Rs. 2,100 after an electoral victory. She reiterated that the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ would provide free medical treatment to senior citizens post-election. “The BJP’s attempts to spread falsehoods only reflect their desperation,” Atishi concluded.
“It is emphasised that since no such scheme is in existence, the question of acceptance of the form/application for registration under this non-existent scheme does not arise. Any private person/political party who is collecting forms/applications or collecting information from applicants in the name of this scheme is committing fraud and has no authority,” the notice said.
Following the publication of the notices in several media outlets, the main opposition party in Delhi, BJP slammed Kejriwal, alleging digital fraud.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of misleading the public and committing “digital fraud” by promoting a non-existent scheme. Sachdeva said, “Arvind Kejriwal is leading the people of Delhi towards digital fraud. There is an AAP government in Delhi, and their own department is issuing a warning to the public that no such scheme exists. Arvind Kejriwal is cheating the people of Delhi. This is Atishi vs. Arvind Kejriwal.”
