BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were injured during a scuffle on the Parliament premises, were discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in Delhi on Monday, December 23.
The two MPs, Pratap Sarangi (69) from Odisha’s Balasore and Mukesh Rajput (56) from Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad, sustained head injuries in the altercation and were admitted to RML Hospital on December 19. Both MPs were initially placed in the ICU for observation and were moved to a ward on December 21.
A spokesperson for Rajput mentioned that although he felt some dizziness on Monday, the MPs were advised to seek further medical assistance at Noida’s Kailash Hospital due to the high number of patients at RML Hospital.
A senior doctor confirmed that both MPs are in much better condition and were discharged after five days of treatment.
The scuffle between MPs from the Opposition INDIA bloc and the ruling NDA in Parliament was triggered by comments regarding the alleged insult to BR Ambedkar. The BJP accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing Sarangi, a claim Gandhi denied.
The incident occurred on December 19 when the INDIA bloc members attempted to enter Parliament through the protestors’ space, leading to the confrontation. Rajput was also injured during the clash.
