The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Hungarian-born U.S. investor George Soros of being the primary investor in Hindenburg Research. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed, “Today we want to raise some issues. Who is investing in Hindenburg? George Soros, known for his frequent propaganda against India, is the main investor there. The Congress Party, driven by its pathological hatred for Narendra Modi, has developed a broader animosity towards India itself.”
Prasad continued, “If India’s stock market becomes unstable, will it not affect small investors? The Congress Party’s politics are driven by ‘toolkit’ tactics and manipulation. While actions are taken against chits found in exams, what about the chits used by Congress and its leaders? They seem intent on crashing the stock market, halting small investor capital, and undermining economic investment in India.”
Soros, the founder of the Open Society Foundation, is a prominent critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP has accused him of attempting to interfere in “India’s democratic process.”
On Saturday, Hindenburg Research, based in the U.S., released a controversial report alleging that Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch held stakes in obscure offshore funds linked to the alleged Adani money siphoning scandal.
