Following the completion of the post-mortem examination, the body of notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari is scheduled to be transported to Ghazipur for cremation. Mukhtar’s son, Omar Ansari, will superintend the journey. Mukhtar will be buried in Kalibagh cemetery

A detailed route has been charted for the journey, spanning approximately 400 kilometers and involving a convoy of 26 vehicles. The route includes entry into Prayagraj via Banda through Fatehpur and Kaushambi, while entry into Bhadohi will be from Kokhraj Handiya Bypass. From Bhadohi, the convoy will proceed to Ghazipur via Varanasi, with police and administrative officials accompanying the ambulance, while family vehicles will be positioned within the convoy.

Police force has been deployed in the cemetery. Along with the police force, LIUs are also deployed in plain clothes. The police will also keep an eye on those attending the funeral. There is a possibility of many henchmen attending the mafia’s funeral.

According to hospital authorities, Mukhtar Ansari was brought to the hospital around 8:25 PM on Thursday, where a team of nine doctors attended to him before his demise.

Ansari, a five-time MLA from the Mau assembly seat, wielded significant influence in Ghazipur. In April 2023, Ansari was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, followed by a life sentence on March 13, 2024, for a case related to forged documents for obtaining an arms license in 1990.

Earlier, in December 2023, he was found guilty of threatening Mahavir Prasad Rungta and was sentenced to five and a half years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth over Rs 73.43 lakh in connection with a money laundering investigation against Ansari.
