Following a rain-induced cancellation of their warm-up match against defending champions England in Guwahati on Saturday, Team India is preparing for their second and last warm-up game for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
India will face the Netherlands, who secured their fifth World Cup appearance by finishing second in the Qualifiers event, behind Sri Lanka.
It’s worth noting that India may be without the presence of their former captain, Virat Kohli, for this match.
The veteran No. 3 batter requested a leave from the team management owing to a personal emergency and hence flew back to Mumbai from Guwahati.
Despite India›s hopes for cricket action in their last warm-up match on Tuesday, the weather conditions in Thiruvananthapuram are not favourable. According to Accuweather, the forecast for Tuesday predicts «cloudy weather with occasional showers and a chance of thunderstorms.»
The chance of rain is quite high, with a 96 percent probability of precipitation, and there is also a 46 percent likelihood of a thunderstorm. Up to this point, rain has disrupted three warm-up matches, with two of them taking place in Thiruvananthapuram.
The South Africa-Afghanistan match was completely rained out, and the Australia-Netherlands game was initially reduced to a 23-over contest before eventually being canceled due to the weather.
India will begin their World Cup campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
