New Delhi: The daily deaths due to Covid-19 have been less than 500 during the last five days, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. It further added that India’s cumulative tests for detection of Covid-19 has crossed the 15-crore mark on Thursday with one crore tests added in just 10 days.
Meanwhile, the country continued to report less than 40,000 fresh daily Covid cases for 11 days in a row, the ministry said.
As many as 9,22,959 samples were tested in a day, which has increased the country’s total cumulative tests to 15,07,59,726. “The past one crore tests were added in just 10 days. Comprehensive and widespread testing on a sustained basis has resulted in bringing down the positivity rate,” the ministry said.
India recorded 31,521 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active coronavirus cases in the country to 3,72,293. With 37,725 new recoveries, the number of overall recovered Covid-19 patients stand at 97,67,371, pushing the recovery rate to 94.66%. The overall Covid-19 cases reached 97,67,371, including 3,72,293 active cases and 92,53,306 recoveries. With 412 new deaths, the casualties mounted to 1,41,772.
The national capital recorded 1,575 new Covid-19 cases today, including 3,307 recoveries and 61 deaths. The total number of cases in the city rose to 6,01,150 and the Total recoveries is 5,72,523. The death toll is 9,874 so far. Active cases in Delhi stand at 18,753.
Maharashtra reported 4,981 new positive cases of Covid-19, taking the tally of total cases to 18,64,348 on Wednesday. 5,111 patients were discharged on Wednesday and with this, the total patients discharged till now stands at 17,42,191. At least 75 people succumbed to the virus on Wednesday, taking the death toll in Maharashtra to 47,902. There are 73,166 active cases in Maharashtra so far.
Tamil Nadu reported 1,220 new Covid-19 cases, including 1,302 discharges, and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total positive case in the state so far is7,95,240, total discharges is 7,72,995, and death toll stand at11,853; Active cases in the state at present is 10,392.
Rajasthan reported 1,592 new Covid-19 cases, including 2,339 recoveries and 15 deaths today. Total positive cases stand at 2,87,219 and total recoveries rose to 2,65,689. The death toll is 2,500 and the number of active cases in the state at present 19,030.
Madhya Pradesh recorded 1,319 new Covid-19 cases, taking the count of infections in the state to 2,19,893. With seven more people dying due to the viral infection, the death count reached 3,373. A total of 1,307 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the overall recovery count in the state to 2,03,294.
