The Indian cricket team holds the World no. 1 rank in Test cricket after their great victory against Australia at the Nagpur test. For now, the Indian cricket team became the only team who claims 1st position in all forms of the game. After India white-washed New Zealand 3-0 in January and a massive win against Australia by 132 runs and an inning in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Nagpur Test, the current ICC Test ranking list has spotted a distinguishing change. After the match Indian team got decent points and lifted to the first rank with a 111 rating and 3,690 points followed by Australia with a 115 rating and 3,231 points.
This rating also means that the spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who gave productive spells have also gotten improvement in World’s top bowler’s list. Both of them took a total of 15 wickets in the first game.
According to reports, due to Ashwin’s impressive performance in the second innings with 5 wickets off 37 runs and 3 wickets off 42 runs in the first innings, he lifted closer to grabbing the first spot in the bowler’s ranking. While Ravindra Jadeja has also improved in the rankings.
This is the first time, the Indian team claims 1st rank in all formats of the game. Earlier, the Indian team became the number one side in the T20 format and ODI format. But, after the end of the Nagpur Test, India claimed the top spot in Test. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the men in blue created history and dominated World cricket with absolute ease. Meanwhile, to maintain the lead in the Test rankings and come closer to qualifying for the World Test Championship final in June, India must have to win the second Test against Australia in Delhi, which begins on Feb 17.
