India-China Talks: Doval and Wang Yi Focus on Ensuring Stability Along Line of Actual Control

India reiterated the need to maintain peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to enhance overall relations between New Delhi and Beijing, as National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held detailed discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the longstanding boundary issue. The talks, conducted within the framework of the Special Representatives’ dialogue, took place in Beijing. Both Doval and Wang serve as Special Representatives for the boundary negotiations.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining a broader political perspective in their bilateral relationship while seeking a fair and mutually agreeable framework for resolving the boundary dispute. They also expressed a commitment to revitalizing this dialogue process.

The MEA further highlighted that Doval and Wang stressed the need for peace and tranquillity in border areas to foster the growth of India-China relations. They also underscored the necessity of ensuring stable conditions on the ground to prevent border issues from hindering normal bilateral progress.

Reflecting on the lessons from the 2020 tensions, both leaders discussed various strategies to maintain peace along the border and improve border management. They agreed to leverage diplomatic and military channels to achieve these goals effectively.
