Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the opposition alliance INDIA, alleging that it lacks faith in India’s strength and was formed solely to challenge the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a rally in Mettupalayam, Tamil Nadu, PM Modi accused the ruling DMK and Congress of having a single agenda: to stay in power by deceiving people.

“The INDIA alliance does not trust India’s strength. When the huge pandemic of Corona came into the world, INDIA alliance members used to say that India cannot make a vaccine. We said we would make a Made in India vaccine. India not only made the Made India vaccine but also saved the lives of crores of people by providing free vaccines,” PM Modi stated.

He also targeted the Congress, stating that despite being in power for decades, the party failed to eliminate poverty in the country. “Family parties like DMK and Congress have only one agenda, to remain in power by deceiving people. Congress promised to eradicate poverty for many decades, but poverty persisted. It is the NDA government that lifted twenty-five crore people out of poverty,” the PM remarked.

Highlighting the BJP’s inclusivity, PM Modi mentioned that the party appointed a tribal woman as the President of India for the first time, despite opposition from the INDIA alliance. “These family parties believe that only their sons and daughters can hold high positions, but the BJP appointed a tribal woman as the President of India for the first time, and the INDIA alliance strongly opposed it,” he added.

PM Modi criticized the Congress and the DMK for neglecting the SC-ST, and OBC communities, leaving them without proper housing, water, and electricity. “For decades, the Congress-DMK INDIA alliance ignored the housing, water, and electricity needs of crores of people from SC-ST, OBC communities because they thought that not everyone deserves these facilities. But the BJP government provided PM Awas to crores of people, electrified every village, and provided free ration to 80 crore needy people, many of whom are from SC-ST, OBC communities,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a rally in Vellore. All 39 seats in Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the DMK-led alliance won 38 of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.
