The Central Railways earned more than Rs 300 crore in ticket checking profits this fiscal year, surpassing all zonal railways, stated an official on Tuesday.
“In the fiscal year 2022-23, Central Railway set a new benchmark in ticket checking performance, earning more than Rs 300 crore by penalizing 46.32 lakh cases.” This is the first time that any zonal railway has reached this milestone,” according to an official statement, adding that the Mumbai Division alone has surpassed the Rs 100 crore figure. Central Railway made Rs 214.41 crore in the previous fiscal year, ranking first among all zonal railways.
“The Mumbai Division also surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark, earning Rs 108.25 crore from 19.57 lakh cases.” “From 3.36 lakh cases, the Pune Division has earned Rs 24.27 crore,” it added.
Nagpur Division made Rs 39.70 crore from 6.16 lakh cases, while Bhusawal Division earned Rs 70.02 crore from 9.06 lakh cases, said officials.
Central Railway also has the honor of employing 20 ticket checkers who have each received more than one crore.
“To ensure comfortable travel and better services for all genuine rail users, Central Railway conducts intensive ticket checking in suburban, mail express, passenger services, and special trains across all divisions to reduce ticketless and irregular travel,” the official added.
